This painting has a dark atmosphere and features several Platonic solids scattered around in a landscape of desolate destruction, doom and despair. My inspiration for the landscape was the First World War and its almost surreal atmosphere after battle.
The Platonic solids historically have an element associated with them. In this case, the cube (earth) and the Icosahedron (water) were picked to be in this image.
The elements of earth and water combined create mud. In this landscape, there is an abundance of mud. The solids that are still whole are partially submerged into the water (cubes) and partially sunken into the earth (icosahedra), indicating that they are merging together with the other element.
